MVM College of Pharmacy, Bangalore in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association- Community Pharmacy Division (IPA-CPD) celebrated “World Pharmacist Day” on 25th September 2021. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) is the global body representing over 4 million pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists. They work with a mission to access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines and health technologies, as well as from pharmaceutical care services provided by pharmacists, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. World Pharmacists Day was initiated by the FIP in order to commemorate the selfless dedication of all the Pharmacists, and Pharmaceutical Scientists. The theme dedicated for this year was “Pharmacy: Always Trusted for Your Health”.
The programme was organised under the leadership of Dr. Raju Koneri, Senior Professor & Advisor, MVM College of Pharmacy, and Prof. Rajeswari R, Principal, MVM College of Pharmacy. The event was supported & facilitated by our Chairman, Shri MV Muniraj and Director Shri Ravi Chandra.
The event was graced by Dr. V Kusum Devi, Chairman Board of Studies (BOS)-Pharmacy Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences was the chief guest of the event. Mr.Alhas JaJiju K, Senior Lead Researcher from Arco Lab Pvt. Ltd.- A Strides Enterprises, Bangalore was the Guest of Honour.
The event began with the blessings of the almighty through an invocation song followed by the lamp lighting ceremony. Prof. Rajeswari R welcomed the gathering. Dr.Raju Koneri initiated the Pharmacist Oath taking ceremony.
Dr.Homesh Choudhary, Assistant Professor, MVM College of Pharmacy presented a report on the research conducted by the MVM Students on Pharmacist and Patients relationship. The study concluded that the pharmacists were highly trustworthy even though they need training on Pharmaceutical care and counselling services.
Ms. Avril Mathias, Assistant Professor, MVM College of Pharmacy had organised a “National Level Collage Competition”. The event was organised on three tracks namely;
Track 1:Pharmacists: Trusted To Help You Get the Best from Your Medicines and Stay Healthy
Track 2:Pharmacy Educators: Trusted to deliver competent and caring pharmacy professionals
Track 3: Pharmaceutical Scientists: Trusted to develop safe and effective medicines that save and change lives for the better.
Students from all over India had participated in the event. The report of the same was presented during the event.
Dr. V Kusum Devi was felicitated by the Chairman, and the Director for being nominated as the Chairman, for Board of Studies, Rajiv Gandhi University of Life Sciences.
Dr. V Kusum Devi, delivered the inaugural address. She spoke about how the pharmacists play an important role in the lives of the common man. She encouraged the students to follow their passion in pharmacy and be competent pharmacists and future pharmaceutical scientists.
Shri. Ravi Chandra, Director, MVM Group of Institutions delivered the presidential address during which he congratulated the students for choosing the noble profession of pharmacy. He assured he students the teachers of MVM College of Pharmacy would help them to reach their goal regarded they are ready to initiate the hardwork. He encouraged the staff and the students to reach greater heights in the profession of pharmacy.
The formal programme ended with the vote of thanks by Ms.Sushma M, Assistant Professor, MVM College of Pharmacy.
Further the Monthly Seminar Series I was inaugurated where, Mr.Alhas JaJiju K emphasized on the Career Opportunities in Pharmacy.
The seminar ended with question & answer session followed by the feedback by the staff and the students.
