Blood – The fluid of life – an essential element of human life with no substitute. Blood transfusions have saved millions of lives, yet the quantity and quality of blood available has always been a major concern in our country .
Shri Mukesh Surana, Director, MVM Group Of Institutions in association with Lions club of Bangalore initiated and organized a voluntary blood donation camp in the college campus at Maruthi Nagar, Yelahanka on 17th March 2021. The camp was inaugurated by Shri Mukesh Surana, in presence of Prof.Dr.Prabhu, Principal MVM College of Physiotherapy, Prof.Dr.Sunita Panicker, Principal MVM college of Arts, Science & Management, Prof.Dr.Rajeshwari, Principal MVM College of Pharmacy, Prof.Mrs.Sahana, Vice Principal MVM College of Allied Health Sciences, Students, Teaching and Non Teaching staff.
The occasion was graced by esteemed guests from the Lions club namely Lion Pradeep (President), Lion K Karthigayan (Secretary), Lion Bhakthavatsala Reddy, Lion Ashok Khurana (Zonal Treasurer), Mr.Surya Kumar (Chairman Hunger Relief) & Mr.Mittaple Bhaskar Reddy.
An orientation program was held on 15th march 2021 prior to the blood donation camp, Lion Deepak Suman gave a motivational talk, briefed the students about the do’s and dont’s for a donor & the pre requisites to qualify for blood donation .
The camp started off at 9: 30 am, in a well organized donation area set up by the Student volunteers of our college based on the requisites given by the blood bank personnel.
The quadrangle was the chosen area as it is well lit, well ventilated and spacious which is foremost to look into the comforts of the donors .
A clear path was set up for the donors which included the waiting area, registration desk, medical check up area followed by the blood donation area. Voluntary donors were screened for weight, hemoglobin, blood pressure & general health. The candidates who cleared all the above criteria were allowed to donate blood .
All blood donors were provided with refreshments – fruit juice, banana & biscuits, and seated in the resting area where they were advised to rest for 20 mins. A certificate of appreciation was handed over to every donor, recognizing their deed .
The camp was a big success with 127 donors which included our respected director Mr.Mukesh Surana, Lion Ashok Khurana & students of MVM Group of Institutions, donating blood. The camp was highly motivating, inspiring & drew great response from the students and faculty.
A certificate of appreciation was handed over to Mr Ravi Chandra, Director, MVM Group of Institutions, by the Medical Officer of Lions Blood Bank, in recognition of the voluntary blood donation camp held by the college.
The camp was a success as a result of the team work of our ever enthusiastic & dedicated student volunteers namely Ms.Bhumika, Ms.Divya, Mr.Ebin, Mr.Kasim, Mr.Mahesh, Ms.Mounitha & Mr.Sumanth from MVM College of AHS, Ms.Sonu Gupta & Ms.Varshini from MVM College of Pharmacy, Ms.Shinju & Mr.Bijin from MVM College of Physiotherapy and Mr.Fajid & Mr.Anzil from MVM College of Management, Ms.Geo & Ms.Yadul from MVM College of Nursing.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Chaitra K R, HOD, AHS college with the valuable assistance by Ms. Roopa, Student co-ordinator .
